Students Visit Chicago Galleries

On Friday, April 27th members of the Visual Arts Guild, along with Professor Cano Villalobos, drove to Chicago to visit Tony Wight Gallery and Andrew Rafacz Gallery. Students met with the gallery directors, viewed current exhibitions, and caught a behind-the scenes glimpse of gallery operations. In addition, they toured the studio of Mike Andrews, artist, professor of Fiber and Materials Study at the School of Art Institute of Chicago, and educational director at Oxbow. Before heading back to Grand Rapids, the group made a final stop at SAIC’s MFA exhibit.

This trip was made possible by Calvin’s Fund for the Improvement for Teaching (FIT). Students who participated included Kerry Aarnoutse, Anna Hanchet, Jay Howard, Scott Rogers, and Jenny Swim.
