Digital artist, Paul Kaiser is a Guggenheim Fellow, has taught at several universities and has been an artist-in-residence around the country, showing work at Lincoln Center, MASS MoCA, the Pompidou Center, the Whitney Museum, the Barbican Centre, and many other venues. Along with Marc Downie and Shelley Eshkar, Kaiser co-founded the Open Ended Group with Marc Downie and Shelley Eshkar. Kaiser spent ten years teaching students with learning disabilities, during this time he discovered the importance of collaboration and developed two key ideas, “mental space and drawing as performance” which have influenced much of the work he has pursued since then. In his recent work with Open Ended Group, Kaiser takes innovative approaches to digital art, combining non-photorealistic 3D rendering, body movement through motion-capture and other means, and autonomy created with the assistance of artificial intelligence.
