November 30, the Art Education Exhibition will open officially. The title for this year’s show is “Seg•ue” (a word used to describe a transitional phase) in light of the transition from student to teacher, but also the process of transitioning through phases in artistic careers. The exhibition showcases work from three senior students: Brenda DeZeeuw, Lydia Mulder, and Joy Yun Pui Li, who will be student teaching in the Spring semester and then graduating to their own classrooms soon after. The students have been preparing for the show throughout this week, actively participating in design, cleaning, and hanging their pieces.
Show runs from November 30 – January 4 at Calvin’s 106 Gallery downtown
RECEPTION: Will be on Saturday, December 8, from 6-9pm, and will coincide with Urban Lights
Urban Lights is an Avenue for the Arts/Dwelling Place organized showcase of local artists and artisans. Division Avenue from Wealthy to Fulton will be lit festively, and galleries will be open, along with booths set up where local artists will be selling work. 106 will have tables with items for sale from current and former Calvin students. The Urban Lights event goes from noon-9pm.
