Literacy Gallery

unnamed
The Department of Art and Art History invite you and your students to experience the LITERACY GALLERY in room 100, basement level of the Spoelhof Center. This exhibition is a combination of artwork from elementary students in the Grand Rapids Public Schools system and from college students. The Grand Rapids Art Museum has graciously loaned us the work that they have exhibited as part of their program called: LANGUAGE ARTISTS: THE ART AND LITERACY CONNECTION.Elementary students visit the GRAM to study several pieces of artwork and then in turn create their own artwork based on their study. The students then write a short composition to compare and contrast as well as a longer narrative about their piece.
Come see the lovely results! Any one interested in literacy of all kinds including the visual and interested in children will enjoy this exhibition. The Gallery will be open until October 13.
