Book Making Workshop at Calvin’s (106) Gallery

Join Open Studio Night at Calvin’s (106) Gallery on Wednesday, February 24 at 6pm for a introductory bookmaking workshop. Instructor Sara will guide us through a
bookmaking project, and will share her tips, advice, and know-how
during this special Open Studio event. The night will include the
creation of unique pamphlet-style and dos-a-dos bound books. We will
explore how to fold folios, sew signatures, and create covers for
your handmade books. Feel free to bring any personal materials that
you would like to incorporate into your books like photographs,
letters, or anything else that comes to mind!

This workshop is held in conjunction with the exhibition PAPER TEARS,
currently on view at (106) Gallery and Studio. The show features work
from the Calvin College “Folio Image Space Text & Time” bookmaking
class.

Open Studio Night is a weekly gathering open to any artist, creator,
or maker. We meet most Wednesdays in the (106) basement studio space
to discuss, explore, and participate in art-making together.
